In this day and age it can be scary to leave your child with people you don’t know. We have taken every precaution to ensure that your child will be cared for in a safe & secure environment. All our volunteers have completed an application and national background check. We also have a procedure that we ask you to follow for Sundays and Thursday nights to keep each child safe.
Sundays at 9:00 a.m.
BLAST Groups - Small group classes for "Bible Learning and Sharing Together." BLAST groups are split into grade levels.
Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
Children's Worship - This large group of Kindergarten - 5th grade students spend time singing and studying, then split into smaller groups for age appropriate application of the Bible Story.
Sundays at 6:00 p.m.
AllSTARS ORBIT - Kindergarten - 5th grade students share new and exciting lessons.
Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

While your parents attend Cornerstone University you can join us for a fun and exciting AllSTAR evening. If you need to bring your homework with you, we'll provide a quiet corner for you to finish and even be available to help!
Upward Sports
Today’s sports culture has created a “win at all cost” mentality. In contrast, Upward defines winning as learning and/or teaching lessons in the game of life. Upward Basketball and Upward Cheerleading offer a break from the norm. The emphasis of all Upward programs is placed on Christ likeness and good sportsmanship. Specifically designed for kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls, Upward promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem through its sports programs. The primary focus of Upward is to develop the Winner in EVERY child, not just a few.
By keeping this goal in mind, we are able to build a league that promotes
salvation, character, and self-esteem in all who participate through:
- Sportsmanship and competitiveness in proper perspective by not maintaining league standings in any division.
- Maximizing the family schedule by having only one hour of practice and one game each week.
- Equipping coaches and referees to minister by providing extensive teaching tools and resources.
- Providing opportunities to promote other church ministries to all participants and their families.
- Allowing the coach to focus on ministering to children and their families, instead of game strategy, by having a set substitution system where all players are allowed equal playing time and equal opportunity for improvement.
- Encouraging each player with a game day award following every game.
- Maximizing ministry opportunities by exposing players to Scripture-based devotions during each practice and spectators to halftime testimonies each game day. Providing opportunities to see changed hearts and lives among children, family members, and volunteers who experience an Upward ministry.
- Building toward a harvest time at Awards Night where participants and parents are given an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.
Upward promotes character self-esteem in every child by providing:
- Equal playing time for every player
- A one-hour practice and game each week of the season
- An evaluation process to provide equal opportunity for improvement
Cornerstone's Upward Basketball (boys and girls) and Cheerleading (girls) league play each Spring at Whiteside Elementary School. Practices are held at BASSC (Belleville Area Special Services Cooperative) on Green Mount Road near Southwestern Illinois College. Upward Cheerleading practices at Cornerstone Christian Church.
