If your children enjoy C.S. Lewis' writings, Jessica will share something in common. Jessica has read all the "Chronicles of Narnia" books and also enjoyed "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. Jessica, her husband, and beautiful daughter moved to Cornerstone from Long Beach, California, where you'll find Jessica's favorite restaurant "Dominicos." The pepperoni on "Dominicos" pizzas are so small that they sprinkle them on the pizza! Jessica says it tastes amazing! As far as vacations, Jessica's favorite place is sitting on the deck of a cruise ship watching the water roll by.

A Kentucky native, Bethany is still a University of Kentucky basketball fan. Bethany, Steve, and their son Joshua enjoy the beach and going to a cabin. "The Prayer of Jabez" and Audio Adrenaline music are also favorites for Bethany.

Kindergarten - 5th Grade

The goal of Cornerstone's Elementary Ministry is to:

SHARE Christ with the children of our community,
TEAM them with other Christians, and
ADVANCE them in their spiritual maturity.
Helping them to RECOGNIZE their spiritual gifts and to
SURRENDER their lives to God.

“You (WE) are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Matthew 5:14

All our volunteers have completed an application and national background check. We also have a procedure that we ask you to follow for Sundays and Thursday nights to keep each child safe.

Today’s sports culture has created a “win at all cost” mentality. In contrast, Upward defines winning as learning and/or teaching lessons in the game of life. Upward Basketball and Upward Cheerleading offer a break from the norm. The emphasis of all Upward programs is placed on Christ likeness and good sportsmanship. Specifically designed for kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls, Upward promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem through its sports programs. The primary focus of Upward is to develop the Winner in EVERY child, not just a few.

By keeping this goal in mind, we are able to build a league that promotes
salvation, character, and self-esteem in all who participate through:

Cornerstone's Upward Basketball (boys and girls) and Cheerleading (girls) league play each Spring at Whiteside Elementary School. Practices are held at BASSC (Belleville Area Special Services Cooperative) on Green Mount Road near Southwestern Illinois College. Upward Cheerleading practices at Cornerstone Christian Church.
